Vetport review
Rates 4.5 on Capterra with strong marks for features and value, on a smaller review base than the market leaders. Cloud, independent of the major groups.
The short version
Strong scores on features and value, from a review base small enough that you should weigh it accordingly and ask for references.
Best for: Practices wanting cloud outside the two large groups, including multi-location and mobile setups.
Strengths
- 4.5 out of 5 on Capterra, with 80% likelihood to recommend
- Features rated 4.7, value for money 4.6, customer support 4.6
- Reviewers describe a user-friendly interface
- Automated reminders and comprehensive medical records
- Not owned by a diagnostics or distribution group
- Used across solo, multi-clinic, specialist and mobile settings
Trade-offs
- 40 reviews is a much smaller base than the market leaders, so the score is less settled
- Reviewers report occasional integration problems
- Described by some as complex for smaller clinics
- Scattered complaints about pricing and support responsiveness
Vetport is a cloud practice management system with a multi-country footprint, and it is not owned by either of the two groups that hold most of this market. It holds a 4.5 out of 5 across 40 verified Capterra reviews, with 80% of reviewers saying they would recommend it.
Read the sample size before the score
4.5 is a good number. It is also drawn from 40 reviews, where ezyVet's 4.6 comes from 276 and AVImark's 4.1 from 599. A smaller base moves more with each new review and reflects a narrower range of practices, so treat it as a positive signal rather than a settled verdict, and ask the vendor for references from practices that look like yours.
We would rather point that out than quietly present two numbers side by side as though they carry equal weight.
Where it scores best
| Category | Rating |
|---|---|
| Features | 4.7 / 5 |
| Value for money | 4.6 / 5 |
| Customer support | 4.6 / 5 |
| Ease of use | 4.4 / 5 |
Features and value are the strongest marks, and support scoring 4.6 is notable in a category where support is one of the most common complaints elsewhere. Reviewers highlight the interface, automated reminders, medical records management, and integrated diagnostics and communication tools.
What reviewers raise
Three themes recur. Occasional integration problems. Complexity for smaller clinics, with at least one reviewer finding it genuinely difficult to use. And scattered complaints about pricing and about how quickly support responds, which sits slightly at odds with the 4.6 support score and is worth probing directly.
Ease of use at 4.4 is the lowest of its four sub-scores, which is consistent with the "complex for smaller clinics" theme. If you are a one or two vet practice wanting something minimal, test that specifically.
Who it suits
It is used across a wide spread: solo practitioners through to multi-clinic groups, specialist and multi-specialty hospitals, and mobile and home-care setups. The breadth is a genuine strength for a growing practice, and it is also where the complexity complaint comes from. A system that covers enterprise cases carries that weight for a single-vet clinic too.
The independence trade-off, honestly
Not being owned by a diagnostics or distribution group means no competing commercial interest in which lab or supplier you use, and integration decisions made on merit rather than on whether the counterparty competes with a sibling business line. That is a real advantage and it is why this system sits in the independent group.
It cuts both ways, and the same points we make in the ownership guide apply here too. A smaller vendor means a smaller support organisation, less equipment integration than a group-owned system can offer, and more diligence needed on vendor stability. Ask about company size, funding and roadmap the same way you would ask any vendor, and do not skip those questions because the independence argument is appealing.
