Jan PieterseCloud

The short version

Straightforward to learn and use across devices. The reported problems cluster around reliability, reporting depth and support.

Best for: Practices already inside the Covetrus relationship who want cloud without changing supplier.

Strengths

  • Reviewers describe it as easy to use and to train new staff on
  • Works across iOS, Android and Windows
  • Handles multiple users editing records concurrently
  • Cloud, so remote and multi-site access are straightforward

Trade-offs

  • Frequent downtime reported by users
  • Inventory tracking reported as weak
  • Bugs and slow performance reported
  • Reported as not working well with other software
  • Support quality and limited reports and reminders both raised repeatedly

Covetrus Pulse is the cloud practice management platform in the Covetrus portfolio. Reviewers are clear about what it does well and equally clear about where it falls short.

What users consistently praise

Ease of use is the strongest theme. Reviewers describe it as straightforward to learn and to train new staff on, and appreciate working across iOS, Android and Windows. Multiple users editing records at once is reported as handled cleanly.

What users consistently raise

This is where Pulse attracts more consistent criticism than the others we cover. Reviewers report frequent downtime, bugs, and slow performance. Inventory tracking is described as not keeping track properly. Reports and reminders are described as very limited. Support is repeatedly criticised.

There is also a theme that connects directly to ownership: reviewers report that it does not work well with other software. If your practice relies on tools outside the Covetrus estate, verify each integration specifically before committing.

Ownership

Pulse is owned by Covetrus, which also sells distribution and pharmacy services. See who owns your practice management system.

Who it suits

Practices already committed to Covetrus who want to move to cloud without changing supplier relationships. Practices that depend on strong reporting, reliable inventory, or a wide set of third-party integrations should test those specifically and hard during evaluation.

What we do not know yet

Aggregate ratings tell you how a broad population feels. They do not tell you how a practice like yours feels. That is what our survey is for, and once we hold enough responses for a given system we publish that breakdown here alongside the public numbers.

Ratings and recurring themes from Capterra's Covetrus Pulse reviews, checked August 2026. Ratings move; tell us if this is out of date.
