AVImark vs ezyVet
4.1 against 4.6 on Capterra, on-premise against cloud, Covetrus against IDEXX. Less a feature comparison than a decision about where your software should live.
The short version
A deployment decision wearing a feature comparison's clothing. Answer the server question and most of the rest follows.
These two come up together constantly, and the reason is structural. AVImark is server-based and long established. ezyVet is cloud and, since 2021, part of IDEXX. Practices comparing them are usually deciding whether to leave on-premise hosting, not which vendor they prefer.

What the ratings do and do not tell you
ezyVet rates higher, and by a clear margin. That is worth weighing, but read what sits behind it: AVImark's criticism is about age and performance, which is structural and will not improve. ezyVet's is about configuration effort and specific gaps, which are addressable but real on day one.
Who each suits
AVImark suits single-site practices with reliable hardware, a strong preference for keeping data in the building, or genuinely unreliable internet.
ezyVet suits practices running or planning multiple sites, wanting staff to work remotely, and willing to invest configuration time up front.
What the comparison misses
Neither solves documentation load. If your team is charting into the evening, moving between these will not change it, and a migration is an expensive way to discover that.
Also worth noting: both are owned by large groups that sell other things to your practice, Covetrus and IDEXX respectively. If part of your motivation is getting out of a supplier's estate, this particular move does not achieve it. See who owns your practice management system.
